Hitchcock Design Group prepared a master plan for a nature based play environment supporting the theme and mission of the renowned Peck Farm Park. This project consisted of a bird themed play environment aligned with the heavy bird habitat previously created on site with a restored prairie. Guests will be greeted by the feathered friends entry plaza where different shapes, textures, and sizes of feathers can be experienced and understood through interpretive keys.
Visitors will have a hands-on river experience at the King-Fisher Crossing where they can wade right in and make their own adjustments to the river flow while pretending to be a beaver, dig into the banks to create mud art, and learn about the fish that serve as food for many birds. The songbird stage invites families to vocalize their best songbird karaoke, complete with simple orchestra instruments.
Climbing toward the pinnacle to a spectacular view of the prairie at the hawks point perch, visitors will become raptors of the Midwest, learning through play experiences that interpret elements defining birds of prey.
