Recognizing the need to restore and preserve this historic landscape and community asset, the Lake Point Tower Condominium Association commissioned Hitchcock Design Group to lead a project team in historic assessment and master plan development. The entire process was thoroughly researched in order to respect Alfred Caldwell’s original Prairie School design vision, as well as that of John Heinrich and George Schipporeit, the architects of Lake Point Tower.

The scope of the Skyline Park Master Plan process included conducting historic research, documenting the existing conditions, identifying the integrity of the site, and creating a Historic Preservation Approach and Treatment Plan. The Association and residents were actively engaged in supplying perspective and generating significant support for implementation. The final report documented the historic research and recommended site improvements and outlined short and long-term implementation strategies.

After the Master Plan was adopted, HDG worked with the Condominium Association to develop reconstruction plans for critical roof deck infrastructure repairs (underdrainage, flashing repair, irrigation), seating area and council ring reconstruction, bar-b-que area improvements, accessible hardscape and paths, new pedestrian and accent lighting, site furnishings, and planting.
