| Project Overview The City would like your input and support in creating a vision for the development of the WE Energies Coal Docks. City leaders recognize the importance of the opportunity to convert the docks into a public recreational attraction for residents and visitors and have retained the planning and design team of Hitchcock Design Group, The master plan development area includes the 12.7-acre north coal dock and a portion of the 6.6-acre south coal dock adjacent to the WE Energies power plant. The master plan will coordinate the work planned, or already completed, with the conversion of the power plant from coal to natural gas, and will document the improvements on the coal dock property that will be transferred to the City of Port Washington. When complete, the master plan will illustrate the scope, scale, character and potential long range vision for the access to, and the development of, the two coal docks. The final master plan document will include step-by-step public policy, permitting, phasing, financing, promotion and organizational implementation recommendations. Immediately following the master plan phase, the City intends to move forward with design and engineering of the recommended improvements with construction as early as 2010. You are invited to help the City and the planning and design team by sharing your thoughts and recommendations for the Coal Docks Master Plan. Your thoughtful input will provide will provide critical background and opinions to the planning and design team as they advance the master plan process.
