Lincoln Landing
More than 350 people celebrated the 200th anniversary of Abraham Lincoln’s birthday by attending the dedication of the Lincoln Landing, an interpretive park in historic downtown Lockport. Hitchcock Design Group led a team of consultants to assist the Give Something Back Foundation and the Will County Historical Society in revitalizing a two-acre area into a civic park and community gateway. A design concept that captures the Landing’s heritage as a key port along the Illinois and Michigan (I&M) Canal, along with Lincoln’s connection to the waterway was utilized and the site was later designated as an officially-endorsed historic site of the Federal Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Commission.
