Pedestrian Corridor Design | Springfield, Missouri

Serving as a centralized pedestrian and bike-friendly corridor that links multiple facilities on the Missouri State University campus, the Kings Street corridor creates functional, safe and welcoming green pedestrian spaces for students and visitors to enjoy as they navigate the campus. The corridor is a result of the conversion of Kings Street into an open walkway that connects student housing and dining facilities, a new recreation center, classroom buildings, the main quad and the football/track stadium. Within this walkway, four areas are being designed that will serve as gathering places and corridors for students and visitors to use with the purpose of allowing them to enjoy the surrounding site amenities located at this hub of campus activities. A portion of the project will help the new recreation center achieve LEED Silver certification. The solution also greatly improves the stormwater management and chilled water resources of the area. The addition of the school mascot to the center of the new quadrangle plaza leaves no doubt that you are in the heart of MSU Bear territory.
