Wishing a very Happy Anniversary to HDG Project Designer, Max Goettler!

Max joined Hitchcock Design Group in 2023 following a successful internship with the firm’s Recreation studio. A proud graduate of THE (Max's emphasis 😉) Ohio State University, he brings a well-rounded design sensibility and an energetic, collaborative spirit to every project.

His professional interests include integrating new technologies into the design process while continuing to refine his skills in concept development, grading, and graphic representation. Max has also played a key role in supporting Hitchcock’s OSLAD grant application efforts—contributing to projects from funding through final design.

He discovered landscape architecture after enrolling in an architecture course “just for fun” during college. A creative thinker with a lifelong passion for drawing, Max was drawn to the field’s unique blend of art, science, and impact. What began as curiosity has since grown into a strong, clear commitment to improving public spaces through thoughtful, collaborative design.

Wishing a very Happy Anniversary to HDG Senior Associate, Jenna Beck!

Jenna's passion for landscape architecture was sparked in high school, when an agriculture science class introduced her to a profession that perfectly blended an interest in graphic design with her love of the outdoors — shaped by her childhood on the family's Indiana cattle farm.

She began her career at Hitchcock Design Group as an intern and, over the past 11 years, has become a skilled professional, thoughtful collaborator, and valued team member. A proud Purdue University graduate with a degree in Landscape Architecture, Jenna is known for her attention to detail, clear communication, and ability to bring ideas to life through smart, inspired design.

Outside the Naperville studio, Jenna enjoys reading, playing volleyball, and catching live music.

Wishing a very Happy 6th Anniversary to HDG Associate 2, Jack McGee!

Jack’s journey to landscape architecture was shaped by a lifelong connection to campuses, community, and recreation. Raised by educators, he spent his childhood living near major universities—including Indiana, Notre Dame, and Ball State—before studying at Purdue, where he earned his degree in landscape architecture and worked five years in campus recreation.

At Purdue, Jack programmed fitness classes, maintained facilities, and volunteered with Purdue University Dance Marathon, which raises funds for pediatric cancer research. It was through this work that he discovered a passion for creating spaces that support healing, play, and connection—and met his future wife.

After graduation, Jack joined Hitchcock Design Group’s Recreation Studio in Naperville, blending his background in recreation with his love for public space design. When the pandemic hit, he relocated to Indianapolis to be closer to family, joining Hitchcock’s Indiana studio and expanding into education and healthcare work, markets that mirror his own story.

Jack is passionate about designing for underserved communities, often finding the most joy in projects with the most constraints. Whether crafting a downtown streetscape or exploring playgrounds across Europe with his nieces and nephews, Jack brings energy, creativity, and a clear sense of purpose to every space he touches.

Cool as an Ocean Breeze...

Our South Florida studio is leading the revitalization of El Prado Park, a beloved oceanside space in Lauderdale-By-The-Sea. Embracing the Town’s mid-century modern character, HDG is enhancing the park’s landscape, hardscape, lighting, and furnishings with a refreshed, contemporary twist. The ½-acre park offers direct beach access through naturalized dunes—an important environmental feature.

Tasked with enhancing rather than redeveloping, the team collaborated closely with Town staff, the Commission, and the community through surveys and input sessions. The resulting design preserves the park’s charm with native coastal plantings, upgraded materials, and colorful new Adirondack chairs, umbrellas, and furnishings.

The reimagined park also supports flexible use, accommodating events like farmers markets, festivals, and yoga. A custom mid-century modern shade structure, “Instagrammable” art piece, and interactive water feature are key additions that support this vibrant vision.

The plaza adjacent to the City of Elgin, Illinois, the Appellate Court building, and the Hemmens Cultural Center had fallen into disrepair and was in need of renovation. At the same time, the City needed to replace an aging water main that ran through the site.

Dewberry Engineers brought HDG onto the project to redesign the space while honoring the midcentury modern architectural style of the surrounding buildings. Historically home to the City’s municipal ice rink during the winter, the plaza was reimagined to accommodate a new, modern rink as a potential future-phase improvement.
