Doug Fair is a Principal at Hitchcock Design Group and a graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Over the course of his career, he has worked on a wide range of project types but ultimately found his true passion in the recreation market. By combining his early talent for hand drawing with a lifelong love of sports, Doug brings a unique perspective to designing recreation spaces that reflect the energy and vision of each community. Doug is known for his ability to listen closely to clients, stakeholders, and community members, then translate their ideas into designs that fully capture project goals. He thrives on the fact that no two projects are ever the same, and he brings creativity, adaptability, and enthusiasm to every team he is part of. Outside the office, Doug’s passion for recreation continues. A lifelong athlete, he grew up playing baseball, hockey, basketball, and golf—and still devotes much of his free time to the game of golf. Orange and blue through and through, he is proud of his Illinois roots and his role in creating meaningful places for communities to gather, play, and grow.
