La Grange Parking Structure and Plaza

Hitchcock Design Group was commissioned by Loebl, Schlossman & Hackl and the Village of La Grange to integrate a multi-story parking structure into a historic commercial/residential neighborhood behind their existing Village Hall. The design team was responsible for building neighborhood and stakeholder consensus. To create a sense of place, the team converted a surface parking lot into a pedestrian and community plaza adjacent to the Village Hall. Since beginning a journey over 15 years ago to revitalize their downtown, La Grange is a landmark example of continued investment. The recently completed La Grange Plaza is filled with people day and night. Robert Pilipiszyn, Village Manager, states, “You don’t often see spaces like this in the suburbs. This pocket park has been embraced by the Village and is a legacy for future generations.”
